Machame Route Kilimanjaro Climb Tour | 05 Nights / 06 Days
Machame route – Shira – kibo – Barafu – Mweka – Arusha

Day 01 : Arrive ArushaArusha – Machame route
On Arrival, meet assist and transfer to the Machame route, often called the “Whiskey Route”. From the Machame Park gate is a gentle climb up through the original montane forest, carpeted with unique -busy lizzie- flowers, begonias and ferns. First camp amongst the giant heather at 3,000m. Ascent of 1,200m and 5 to 6 hours walking. Overnight at camp.

Day 02 : Machame route – Shira
After breakfast, Proceed to the Shira, Emerge from the giant heather zone and hike through fine open moorland to camp by the Shira Cave at 3,840m. Herds of eland up here (& occasional lion!) and there are fascinating geological features in the old volcanic caldera which can be viewed during a half-hour optional walk in the afternoon. Ascent 840m and 4 to 5 hours walking. Overnight at camp.

Day 03 : Shira – kibo Hut
After breakfast, Proceed to the the main peak Kibo, with the western glaciers clearly visible across the rugged high-altitude desert of volcanic rocks and boulders. Skirting around its base and under the imposing western Breach, descend into the sheltered Barranco Valley for mid-way camp at 3,950m. 6 to 7 hours walking and only 110m total ascent but having climbed much higher and dropped back down assists acclimatization. Overnight at camp.

Day 04 : Kibo Hut – Barafu Hut
After Breakfast, Proceed to the Barafu Hut, Up the steep Barranco wall with some sections of very easy scrambling and drop down again to the Karanga Valley where you take a break for lunch.
After lunch hike on to Barafu Hut 4600m, having hiked a total of 7 to 8 hours and ascended 650m. You have fantastic views across to Mawenzi peak from the camp after having completed a longer day of hiking which now requires you to adequately relax in preparation of the challenging summit hike early the following morning. Overnight at camp.

Day 05 : Barafu Hut – Mweka
After Breakfast, Proceed to the Mweka, A bracing 1am start to climb the steep frozen scree. This is unavoidable on any route but we aim to go past Gillman’s Point to reach Stella Point on the crater rim for sunrise another 40 minutes and you are at the highest point on the continent (Kibo:5900m), usually in warm sunshine. Return on the Mweka descent route.
Ascent of 1,300m and about 7 hours trek to the summit; 2,600m descent and 6 to 7 hours trek to the Mweka campsite (3400m) above Mweka gate. This is a long hard day but you feel absolutely ecstatic when you have done it. Overnight at camp.

Day 06 : Mweka – ArushaDepart Arusha
Departure transfer to onward destination.

Marangu Route Mount Kilimanjaro Climb Tour | 05 Nights / 06 Days
Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak- Arusha

Day 01 : Arrive Mandara Hut
Arrival Mandara Hut, meet assist and transfer to Kilimanjaro, Semi-tropical foothills to Marangu, situated on the south-eastern side of the mountain. As you drive, there are usually some excellent views of the snow-capped peak.
On arrival at Marangu gate, you meet your team of guides and porters, pick up any last minute supplies for the trek, and head to the entrance of Mount Kilimanjaro National Park to register for the climb. From the cluster of buildings at the gate it is some four to five hours walk through patches of coffee plantation and dense rainforest to Mandara Hut. The forest teems with brightly-coloured bird life, colobus and other varieties of monkey. The flora includes numerous mosses, lichens and flowers, as well as delicate orchids. If the skies are clear you may have fine views over the town of Moshi lying at the edge of the plain far below.
Mandara Hut is a collection of basic, A-frame mountain huts with bunk beds – quite adequate for your needs – where you inevitably meet up with fellow trekkers who are bent on the same goal.
Transfer to hotel.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 : Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut
After breakfast, Proceed to the Horombo Hut, on the mountain starts with a steep climb through the last swathe of rainforest, though this soon gives way to rolling alpine meadow dotted with giant heather. Once you leave the forest canopy, Kilimanjaro’s twin peaks – snowcovered Kibo and rocky Mawenzi – lie directly ahead, dominating the skyline.
Further on you cross a zone of open heath with stunted vegetation, before emerging onto bleak moorland. Today you gain roughly 1,000m in altitude, and your walk can take anything from five to seven hours – depending on your pace. Tonight you stay at Horombo Huts – another collection of buildings similar in style to those at Mandara – which offer shelter and basic accommodation to those on the mountain. After enjoying exciting tour of Horombo Hut return back to the hotel.

Day 03 : Horombo Hut
After breakfast, Proceed to A day here provides an opportunity for you to acclimatise gradually to the altitude. Statistics show that an acclimatisation day like this effectively doubles the chance of making it to the summit, so this time is well spent!
The day is not exactly wasted as there are a few walks you can make in the vicinity of the hut – the most popular of which is to the base of Mawenzi Peak, the dramatic eastern summit of Kili. This walk takes four to five hours and will get you to an altitude of 4,600m before you return to the hut – this will stand you in good stead later on. After enjoying exciting tour of Horombo Hut return back to the hotel.

Day 04: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut
After breakfast, Proceed to the Kibo Hut, The landscape becomes progressively more rocky and rugged as you leave the everlasting flowers and other bizarre alpine plants behind. Giant groundsels and lobelias appear in the sparse moorland.
Today’s trail up to Kibo will again take anything between five and seven hours. Skirting Mawenzi Peak, you pass Last Water then cross a stark, almost lunar landscape onto “The Saddle”, a broad tundra desert between the two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. From here you start to get fantastic views of the upper reaches of the mountain before arriving at Kibo Hut, a dry-stone-walled hut with dormitories and limited facilities.
Tonight you prepare for tomorrow’s final assault The Summit re-packing to leave any non-essential items with the porters; you need to summon all your energy to get to the summit so there’s absolutely no point in carrying anything you don’t need An early night is imperative as you must make a midnight start in order to reach the summit in the morning before the cloud cover settles, and then have time to get back down to the hut.

Day 05 : Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak
After breakfast, Proceed to the Uhuru Peak, This is a long and demanding day! The guides wake you soon after midnight and you start out in darkness, zigzagging up a long scree slope by the light of your torch in the extreme cold. At this time of day the scree is still frozen – which makes it easier to walk on!
After roughly two hours you should reach Hans Meyer’s Cave – named after the German geologist who made the first successful ascent in 1889 – where he found the remains of a frozen leopard. The gradient gets steeper and three hours on you should reach the crater rim at Johannes Notch. From here it’s a short scramble to Gillman’s Point in time for dawn.
Your reward is the dramatic spectacle of the sun rising over the ice fields and craggy peaks of Mawenzi – the profusion of colors and shapes make all the suffering seem worthwhile For those who still have the energy and drive, it takes another couple of hours along the crater rim to reach Uhuru Peak. Your descent retraces the route back down past Kibo Hut to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 : Uhuru Peak – ArushaDepart to Arusha

Day 02 : Rongai – TrekTrek – Rongai 2600m
After breakfast, Proceed to at 5895m above sea level, Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and majestically straddles the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Climbing to the top of this dormant volcano is one of Africa’s most exhilarating experiences and today we rise to the challenge. An early start takes us to the pretty wooden village of Nale Moru where we will begin our trek through fields of maize and potatoes before entering the pine forest. Climbing consistently throughout the day, we will stop for the night at the Rongai Campsite, on the edge of the moorland zone with views over the Kenyan plains. Overnight at camp.

Day 03 : Rongai – TrekTrek – Kikelewa3600m
After breakfast, Proceed to continue our steady ascent up to the Second Cave with superb views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim. After lunch, we leave the main trail and strike out across the moorland on a smaller path towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. Our campsite is in a sheltered valley with giant senecios near the Kikelewa Caves. Overnight at camp.

Day 04 : Kikelewa – TrekTrek – Mawenzi Tarn 4330m
After breakfast, Proceed to our trek continues with a short but steep climb up grassy slopes. We leave vegetation behind shortly before reaching the next camp at Mawenzi Tarn, directly beneath the towering spires of Mawenz. Overnight at camp.

Day 05 : Mawenzi Tarn – TrekTrek – Kibo 4750m
After breakfast, Proceed to today we cross the lunar desert of the ‘Saddle’ between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach School campsite at the bottom of the Kibo crater wall. The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent. Overnight at camp.

Day 06 : Kibo – The Summit 5896m
After breakfast, Proceed to morning the ascent continues as we climb very slowly on a switchback trail through loose volcanic scree to reach the crater rim at Gillman’s Point. We will rest there for a short time to enjoy the spectacular sunrise over Mawenzi, before carrying on to Uhuru Peak. Absorb the magnificent views across Kenya and Tanzania at ‘the roof of the world’. After some refreshment, we continue the descent to reach our final campsite at Horombo. Overnight at camp.

Day 07 : The Summit – Marangu
After breakfast, Proceed to today is the final day of our trek as we make our final descent to Marangu gate and park headquarters. At Marangu gate successful climbers receive their summit certificates. We meet our driver guide with a packed lunch and drive back to the hotel to take a hot shower and celebrate. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08 : Depart Marangu

Day 03 : Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, Proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for an early morning game drive. This beautiful national park is positioned in the north western corner of Lake Manyara which is a soda lake that lies at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. Manyara National Park is not only known for its large flocks of flamingos, but also for the elusive tree climbing lions. Overnight at Camp.

Day 04 : Lake Manyara NP – NgorongoroNgorongoro – Serengeti NP
After breakfast, Proceed to we drive up along the Rift Valley escarpment towards the world famous Ngorongoro Crater. For many, this wildlife spectacle is the pinnacle of their safari experience. The Ngorongoro Crater boasts all of the ‘Big 5’, including a small population of endangered black rhino. After a picnic lunch, we head towards the Serengeti is best known for – the endless, undulated grass savannah with rocky outcrops that serve as isolated wildlife refuges. Later we head towards the Serengeti. Overnight at camp.

Day 05 : Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, Proceed to today you will be spending a full day game driving around the Seronera area of the Serengeti. The Serengeti is divided into three main areas: Seronera is the most central and accessible region and this is where the Park HQ is based, as well as most of the larger lodges and communal campsites. This part of the Serengeti is characterised by open plains of grassland, packed with animals. The Seronera River is the lifeblood of the Serengeti and this area is renowned for great game viewing all year round. It is also very good for big cat sightings like lion and cheetah and sometimes the elusive leopard. Overnight at camp.

Day 06 : Serengeti National Park – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, Proceed to today we retrace our steps with a morning game drive through the Serengeti followed by a picnic lunch, before continuing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. In route we visit Olduvai Gorge. Overnight at lodge.

Day 07 : Lake Manyara National Park – ArushaArusha – Kilimanjaro – Depart Kilimanjaro
We head to Arusha where the tour will end. Departure transfer to onward destination.

After breakfast, you will meet an office representative for a briefing about your safari, then take 2 hours’ drive to Tarangire National Park. Along the way, you will take in the scenic views of the grassland plains speckled with the ancient baobab trees, traditional Maasai houses, and cattle being herded by the nomadic people.

You will see all that Tarangire National Park is known for – the famous ancient baobab trees, tree climbing pythons, and the largest concentration of African elephants, lions, leopards, cheetah. After a picnic lunch in midday, you will resume your afternoon game drive then drive to the hotel/lodge/Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02 & Day 03 : Tarangire NP – Serengeti NP
After a breakfast, you will drive to Serengeti national park. This drive will take you through the Ngorongoro conservation area so you will be able to view the Ngorongoro crater on the way. This drive will take around six hours depending on the game on the way because sometimes there is a high concentration of game on the southern plains. You may have a chance to stop at the Ndutu area depends on the time. You will stop for a picnic lunch on the way then proceeds to your camp/lodge with a game drive en-route arriving in the evening.

Rise up early, so that you can depart your lodge for a full day game viewing, moving with the herds across the plains exploring the Great Wildebeest Migration in the northern part toward the Mara River. An impressive experience to see all those hoofed mammals, followed by predators, migrate in a clockwise circle every year. If you want also to spot the Big Five animals (lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo) all in one park, the Serengeti is the place to be. In the evening, you will be transferred back to your camp/Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 07 : Serengeti NP – Ngorongoro Area
After breakfast, you will proceed with packed lunch for early morning game drive between 08:00 – 14:30 hours. Then, will depart to the Ngorongoro Conservation area while enjoying a game drive en-route viewing along the way to where you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 08 : Ngorongoro – ArushaDepart Arusha
After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. In midday, you will have your lunch at the base of the crater. Ngorongoro is one of the 8th Wonders of the World, the crater is a very important refuge for a variety of wildlife. Most commonly seen are big bulls of elephants and the vulnerable species of black rhinos.
The crater is also home to big herds of wildebeest and zebras, thomson and grant gazelles, hippopotamus, African cape buffalos, prides of lions, hyenas, serval cats, golden and black-backed jackals, and close to 400 species of birds.
Later on, will follow the transfer back to Arusha town, or directly to the airport

Day 01 : Arrival ArushaArusha – Tarangire NP
Arrive Arusha and drive straight to Tarangire National Park for a game drive en route to Tarangire sopa lodge. Check in, little siesta followed by evening game drive along the Tarangire River.
The Tarangire River is the only source of water for Tarangire National Park during the dry season from June to November, Tarangire National park host the largest herds of Elephants and is famous for the giant Baobab Trees.
Other Sightseeing of the day Cape Buffalos, Zebras, Wildebeest, Impala, Leopards, Cheetahs, Lions, Caracal, African wild dog, Waterbuck among others.

Day 02 : Tarangire NP – Lake Manyara NP
Breakfast at Tarangire Sopa Lodge check out and drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a day of game viewing, Lake Manyara National Park features to make the lake particularly memorable to visit, and you will really create great Tanzania Budget Safari memories.
The sightseeing of the day includes wildlife Zebras, Elephants, Hippos, Wildebeest, Noisy Monkeys, Buffalos, Warthog, Waterbuck among others, and bird watching as the national park has registered more than 400 bird species.

Enjoy a 6 hours game viewing of the large mammals and predators till you reach the crater rim for Picnic lunches.

Day 04 : Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti NP

Afternoon/Evening game viewing in Serengeti National Park en route to Central Serengeti. Serengeti National Park is famous for the massive migration of the wildebeest and Zebras in search of new pastures and a large number of predator’s lions, Leopard, Cheetahs, caracals, and African Wild dog making the Tanzania safari game drives awesome as they are full of hunting and making a kill. Later drive to Serengeti Serena Safari lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 05 : Serengeti NP
African breakfast at Serengeti Serena Safari lodge as you prepare for an incredible Tanzania Safari experience across Serengeti National Park, we advise the Clients to leave the tented camp with picnic lunches to enable an extensive game drive in search of the migration herds in Central Serengeti, Along Mara River and Near the Crocodile infested Grumeti River. Enjoy the picnic lunch in the wilderness and continue with the game viewing with a visit to the Hippo pool and several Serengeti Kopjes where the pride of Lions is often seen, the kopjes are rock formations on the grassy land and the lions hide there as they spy the prey.
